Map of Kasargod

Kasargod is situated in the Northern most side of Kerala. It lies on the latitude 12° 30′ N and longitude 75° 00 E. The district was formed on 24 May 1985. The district has an area of about 1992 km² and is walled by the Western Ghats on the Eastern side and the Arabian Sea on the Western side. The district head quarters are centred at the Kasargod town itself.

Kasargod is one of the best examples for the unity in diversity as it is known as the land of seven languages and several cultures. The district is tightly existed by Hindu, Muslim, and Christian religions. Kasargod is well attracted by the tourist because of its beautiful beaches, hills, forts and backwaters. In addition to that there are several pilgrim centres such as Ananthapuram temple, Madhur temple, Malik Deenar Masjid, Mallam temple etc which makes people to think about visiting Kasargod.

Tourist Attractions

Bekal Fort: It is the biggest fort in Kerala which is situated on the seashore of Pallikara village.

Hosdurg Fort: The fort looks beautiful even because of its architecture, as it is round in organization.

Bela church: This is an old, ancient Roman Catholic Church church built in the name of the Lady of Sorrows Church. It is under the Manglore Territory.

Kottancheri hills: It is the rain forest which is situated at the bank of Kaveri River. A lot of people came over here as it is an ideal place for trekking.

Ranipuram: The place is surrounded by grassy hills and green plants which makes the spot picturesque.

Kasargod offers more tourist destinations such as Povval fort, Veeramala hills, Valiyaparamba, Nileshwar, Maipady palace, Edneer mutt, Chandragiri fort, Kanjan junga, Malik dinar mosque, Manjeswar, Trikaripur etc. Obviously, Kasargod is one of the major tourist centres in Kerala and it has a lot of must watch tourist destinations.
