Map of Kozhikode

Kozhikode which is also known as Calicut is located on the southwest coast of India. It has an area of about 2,345 square kilometres which lies between latitudes 11° 08′N and 11° 50′N and longitudes 75° 30′E and 76° 8′E. Kozhikode district is bordered by the districts of Kannur, Wayanad, Malappuram and the Arabian Sea to the North, East, South and West respectively. Vadakara, Koyilandy, and Kozhikode are the 3 Taluks which divides the district into 3.

Kozhikode is one of the favourite places of the tourist peoples. Most of them were attracted by the rivers, hills, lush green country sides, beaches, historic sites, wildlife sanctuaries of Kozhikode and of course these all may be the reasons for the peoples to choose Kozhikode as their favourite tourist destination.

Tourist Attractions

Peruvannamuzhi: This is a beautiful picturesque spot in the district which is surrounded by hills and lakes. There are bird sanctuary, uninhabited islands and a crocodile farm which attracts us more to this place.

Kappad Beach: It is one of the beautiful beaches in Kerala. It is said that Vasco da Gama landed here at 1498 as Kozhikode was one of the important trading centre.

Tusharagiri Waterfalls: At Thusharagiri, we can find an extraordinary bonding between the land and water. Here we can also watch rubber plantations, pepper, ginger and other spices cultivation.

Tali Temple: This temple was the venue of Revathy Pattathanam and is a good example for the traditional Kerala style architecture.

Pazhassiraja Museum: It has very historic importance and it is managed by the State Archaeology Department.

Beypore: It was an important trade and maritime centre. In addition to that Beypore is one of the prominent ports and fishing harbours of ancient Kerala.

S M Street: This Street is the most crowded and the busiest street in Kozhikode since a lot of people came here for shopping. ‘Halwa’ and Sweets of Kozhikode is very famous.
